I like an omelet. I even like an omelette, which is fancier because of the extra letters.
And I really like art. Not as much as whipped eggs with a variety of ingredients stuffed inside, but it's pretty awesome. Which is one reason I am intensely jealous of anybody attending the Oklahoma City Museum of Art's annual Omelette Party, 7 p.m. to midnight, March 2 at the Chevy Bricktown Events Center, 429 E. California Ave.
Not only is it a heck of a party, but attendees get to chow down on gourmet breakfast foods, take advantage of the open bar and peep some gorgeous local art. The list of chefs and restaurants taking part this year read like a who's who of who's hungry in OKC.
From Aurora, you've got chef Henry Boudreaux (formerly of the OKCMOA's Museum Cafe), chef Andrew Black from La Baguette and Black Walnut, chef Beau Stephenson from Bin 73, chef James Vu from La Brasa, Rococo and The Manhattan chef Bruce Rinehart (OKC's most huggable chef), Mary Eddy's Kitchen x Lounge chef Jason Campbell and many, many more. I'm especially excited to see Tom Lienke from the Lake Hefner Golf Club on the list. LHGC is one of Oklahoma City's hidden culinary treasures.
Tickets aren't cheap: $125. But it's a pretty great experience, if you get a chance to attend. Plus, the proceeds go to support the museum, which has been on a hot streak in recent years of bringing big exhibits (Kehinde Wiley, Matisse in His Time) to Oklahoma.
